Before you start
- A Discord account with Manage Server.
- A server with a trigger channel. Without one, console menus send you back to Guided setup (A server admin's first 5 minutes).
Open Settings to see Server Settings. The Status summary row at the top shows saved values only, and a cell jumps to its setting. Unset channels show Empty; switches that are off show Off.
How the page runs, top to bottom
- Channels — trigger, category, management hub, weekly report, Match announce channel
- New channel defaults — name, limit and privacy defaults, the Allow bot DM notifications switch, the AFK auto-move card
- Language — the language of the bot's messages
- Member messages — Welcome message, Server home announcement
- Mileage & rewards — accounts to leave out of counting, tier badges
- Custom games (in-house matches) — team voice, position notice, seasons, the Riot link requirement (shown only where in-house matches are on, and Riot linking for the last one)
The fields in Channels, New channel defaults and Language are one form: press Save once at the bottom. Only changed fields apply, and if one is invalid nothing is saved. Windows and cards save on their own.
/admin commands also cover the hub, report channel, category, defaults, language, weekly ranking size, triggers, AFK auto-move and tier badges. /admin show-config shows core values on one card, but not the Match announce channel setting or the Enable team voice and Require Riot link switches. The rest (DM notifications, Match announce channel, team voice, Riot requirement, welcome, Server home announcement, seasons) are web-only.
Where new servers get stuck most often
- Allow bot DM notifications: new servers start with it off, but servers already in use may have it on, so check the Bot DM notifications line of
/admin show-config. While it is off, match invites and reminder DMs do not reach members. More is in I didn't get the invite DM. - Match announce channel: not set. The Join message, the highlight and the result card have nowhere to post.
- Weekly report channel: not set. No weekly report, and with tier badges also off, no voice time is recorded.
- Enable team voice: off. No team voice channels open.
- Require Riot link: off. Once on, members who have not linked Riot cannot join a match, so tell them first.
Public match viewing is on from the start: any server member can view matches they are not in, read-only.
Channels: where rooms and notices go
The + Create new link beside a channel field creates a Discord channel on the spot; it is only set when you press Save. If the bot lacks permissions, saving is refused and the missing ones are listed (The server permissions Kletoi needs).
Trigger channels: where rooms start
Joining this channel creates a member's personal voice room. One must exist before the console menus open, and the card opens a window to add and remove triggers (Create or change a trigger channel).
Temp channel category: where rooms are placed
The category new rooms are created in. Unset it stays (trigger channel's category) and follows the trigger channel's category; a category set on the trigger itself comes first (Create or change a trigger channel).
Hub channel: where the owner panel is posted
The text channel for the owner panel members use to manage their rooms. Unset at first, and rooms work without it. Changing it posts the panel in the new channel and deletes the old one. Emptying it with Clear and saving opens a confirmation and deletes the panel message.
Weekly report channel: where the weekly voice ranking is posted
The text channel where the voice activity ranking is posted every Sunday. Setting it starts recording the time members spend together in voice (only time with two or more people in a non-AFK channel counts). Unset at first: no report, and with tier badges also off, no voice time is recorded. The admin notice that the whole server hit its room limit is posted here too (How many rooms can be open at once).
Pick the rankings in the Rankings in the report box: only Voice activity is on at first, and the others, such as Kleos activity score, are off (only kinds available on this server show). The Weekly ranking size (top N) field starts at 3; change it to a number from 1 to 25. Who sees the Kleos ranking is in Build up and review your Kleos activity score.
Everyone who can see the channel sees the ranking, so check who can see it first. Emptying the field and saving on the web does not clear the channel; use /admin clear-report-channel. Clearing it stops the report, and with tier badges off, voice time recording stops too (Voice mileage, tiers and badges).
Match announce channel: where match posts go
The text channel for match posts, used in three places: the Join message for members the invite DM could not reach, the community MVP highlight a matchmaker posts with the Announce highlight button, and the result card. Unset at first, so none of the three is posted. The result card is posted automatically on confirming a result only if the Auto-post result card switch is on too (starts off).
Once set, the channel cannot be cleared: picking (not set) and saving on the web changes nothing, and no /admin command clears it, so you can only switch to another channel. The only thing you can turn off is the result card (the Auto-post result card switch). The Join message (it mentions the members the DM could not reach and posts a roster card) and the highlight cannot be turned off.
The invite side is in A server admin's first 5 minutes, and the result card is in Share cards and result cards and Confirm a result and enter records.
Public match viewing: matches people are not in
When on, server members can view matches they are not in, read-only. The same switch covers the server home's match list and news and the ban/pick board. When off, only that match's players and organizers can view it (Ban/pick and Fearless).
You are done when the Management hub channel, Weekly report channel and Match announce channel cells in the Status summary row show a channel name; an unset one stays marked Empty.
New channel defaults: the basics for rooms and DMs
New channel defaults: how a new room starts
These values fill any field a trigger does not set itself. The Name template field accepts the {user} token, and User limit (0–99) means no limit at 0. The Private by default switch starts off. A value a member changed themselves comes first (Create or change a trigger channel).
Allow bot DM notifications: the master switch for event DMs
This switch decides whether event notices (match invites, reminders, knocks, tier promotions) are sent as DMs. New servers start with it off; servers already in use may have it on, so check the Bot DM notifications line of the /admin show-config command. While it is off, match invites go to the channel set in Match announce channel and promotion notices are not sent. Notices a member turned off themselves are never sent.
Turning it on is in A server admin's first 5 minutes, and the notices sent at each stage are in Run a match, step by step. What to check when invite DMs do not go out is in I didn't get the invite DM.
AFK auto-move: members who keep their headphones off
This moves members who keep their headphones off for a long time to the server's AFK channel. Turn it on or off in the card's window (starts off); the server needs an Inactive (AFK) channel in Discord's settings. The AFK warning DM switch only matters while the move is on. Muting only the mic does not count (AFK auto-move).
Language and member messages
Language: the language the bot speaks
The language of the bot's messages and command replies, separate from members' own languages and the web screens (which follow the viewer). A new server starts with its Discord language (English if unsupported) and is set once to an admin's language on that admin's first bot command; changing it here stops auto-detection from overwriting it, and the hub, the position panel and the Server home announcement Discord post are redrawn.
Welcome message: the DM a new member gets
A welcome DM goes to the new member only, with links to the position notice, the web profile and the first-match guide where they apply (starts off). It is turned on and off separately from the Allow bot DM notifications switch. Members who block DMs are skipped.
Server home announcement: the notice at the top of the server home
A short notice at the top of the server home, one at a time, in plain text (up to 500 characters). It disappears after the date in End date (optional); leave that empty and it stays until you remove it. Pick a channel under Also post to Discord (optional) and the same notice is also posted there in Discord. On the server home, members see the name of the admin who posted it; the Discord post does not include the name.
You are done when the Status summary row shows On on the Welcome message cell and Live on the Server home announcement cell.
Accounts to leave out and tier badges
Excluded accounts: accounts left out of counting
Accounts, such as bots or alts, to leave out of counting. They do not count toward voice mileage or the Kleos activity score, or as company for the “with another person” rule. Empty at first; /admin exclude-add also adds one (Voice mileage, tiers and badges).
Tier badges · Season rewards: tier roles and season roles
This creates tier roles automatically and promotes members as voice time adds up (starts off). Turning it on also starts recording voice time, and you can rename tiers (Voice mileage, tiers and badges). The Season reward roles part of the card sets roles per season ranking bracket and only shows where in-house matches are on (Running a season and its wrap-up).
Custom games: the match switches
Team voice: voice channels per team
This creates a voice channel per team of a match and moves players who are in voice into it (starts off). While it is off, the Open team voice button on the match page does not open either. When they open is in Run a match, step by step.
Position notice panel: positions are picked on the web
This posts a notice in the channel you pick telling members to choose preferred positions on the web; matchmakers see what members picked on their web profile when building teams. No Discord roles are created (starts off). How positions are picked is in Team balance, lanes and positions.
Season operation: splitting match ratings into seasons
This splits members' match ratings (MMR) into seasons. The MMR season switch and the Auto rollover switch both start off, and the first save with it on starts the first season right away. When a season changes, ratings move back toward the baseline and the Kleos activity score goes back to 0 (Running a season and its wrap-up).
Riot gating: the Require Riot link switch
When on, only members with a linked Riot account can be added to a match roster (creating a match, swapping a sub, saving a recurring schedule). It starts off and has its own Save button in the card. The link-nudge DM also needs Allow bot DM notifications to be on (Link and re-verify your Riot account).
The In-house DMs card previews the DM texts a match sends. It has no switch; Allow bot DM notifications decides whether they go out.
You are done when the Team voice, Season operation and Riot gating cells in the Status summary row show On for what you turned on.
