Before you start
- A room you own. Joining the trigger channel creates it.
- Most panel buttons are owner-only. The exceptions are 🚪 Knock, which people outside the room press, 📊 Combo record, which anyone can press, and ⚔️ Start in-house, which matchmakers press. The last two exist only when the bot's in-house features are on; they are covered in Your profile and match history and Team balance, lanes and positions. Slash commands work only while you are inside the room's voice channel.
- New to the panel? Start with A member's first 5 minutes. This page goes one step further.
Set the name and the size
Rename the room
Press ✏️ Rename on the panel. In the Rename channel window, type the new name into New channel name. A name must be 1–100 characters; if it is blank or too long, the bot replies “Channel name must be 1–100 characters.”
- Because of a Discord rule, a room can be renamed 2 times every 10 minutes. Past that the bot tells you the limit is reached. Try again a little later.
- Typing the name the room already has does not call Discord, so it does not use up the limit.
- When Discord is slow you get “Discord is responding slowly right now. Check the channel name in a moment and try again if it hasn't changed.” Do as it says.
Set the user limit
Press 👥 Limit and type a number into 0–99 (0 = unlimited) in the User limit window. Type 0 to remove the limit. If it is not a number or is out of range, the bot asks you to try again.
The bot replies with the new value, and the voice channel name has changed if you renamed it. The Limit line of the panel does not change right away; it refreshes the next time you lock, hide or hand over the room.
Lock and hide are different
Lock decides who can join. Hide decides who can see the room. You switch them on and off separately.
- 🔒 Lock only: the room stays visible in the list. People outside cannot join and ask with 🚪 Knock. People you allowed or invited can join.
- 👀 Hide only: the room disappears from the list and only some people can see it. Except for people you blocked, joining stays as open as before (the user limit still applies).
- Both: the room is out of the list, and the only newcomers who can join are people you allowed or invited.
- Neither: the room is visible and open to everyone. Except for people you blocked, the only thing the room settings hold back is the user limit.
Lock the room
Press 🔒 Lock and the room locks. The button turns into 🔓 Unlock; press it to unlock the room again. The panel's Access line shows 🔴 Locked while the room is locked and 🟢 Open while it is unlocked.
Answer a knock
When someone outside a locked room presses 🚪 Knock, the request reaches you. Press ✅ Accept to let them in or ❌ Reject to send a decline. Where the request arrives, how often someone can knock, and what happens when the list is full are in Allow, block, knock and invite.
Hide the room
Press 👀 Hide and the room is hidden. The button turns into 👁️ Show, and the panel's Visibility line shows 👀 Hidden while the room is hidden and 👁️ Shown while it is visible. Hiding posts one “🙈 Channel hidden” notice in the room chat. A hidden room is visible only to some people; who they are is in Allow, block, knock and invite.
To keep people out, turn on 🔒 Lock as well. Adding people to the view list is covered in Allow, block, knock and invite.
After you lock or hide, the button names change to 🔓 Unlock and 👁️ Show, and the Access and Visibility lines of the panel follow.
Hand over the room or remove someone
Hand over ownership
Press 👑 Transfer and a list of the people in the room appears (you and bots are left out). Pick one and it happens right away. That person becomes the owner and you lose the owner controls. The Owner line of the panel changes to the new owner.
There is no confirmation step. To get the room back, the new owner has to hand it back.
Remove someone
❌ Kick opens the same list. Pick someone and they are taken out of the room. Removing alone does not stop them from coming back. To keep them out, block them. Locking the room does not stop people on the allow list.
If the room was hidden, someone who could see it only because they were inside no longer sees it after you remove them. Who keeps seeing a hidden room, and how to block someone, are in Allow, block, knock and invite.
What happens when you leave
- If other people are still inside, ownership passes to one of them automatically. Bots do not count, and the person who joined the server earliest takes over.
- If the room was hidden you can still see it, so you can find your way back. You do not get the owner controls back.
- When everyone except bots has left, the room is deleted.
Your next room remembers your settings
What you change is saved per server, just for you. The next time you create a room from a trigger channel, it starts with those values.
- Name: the name you set with ✏️ Rename becomes the next room's name exactly as typed. The trigger's Name template setting is not used.
- User limit: the last value you set with 👥 Limit, including 0 for no limit.
- Lock: the last state you chose. If you left the room locked, the next one starts locked.
- Hide, ownership hand-overs and the allow and block lists are not remembered. A new room always starts visible.
- Anything you have never changed follows the defaults set on the server or the trigger channel.
/voice-meta forget-me deletes not just your saved defaults but also your activity records and linked account. If you only want different settings, set new values with the buttons above; they overwrite the old ones. What it deletes is in Delete your data or change privacy settings.
Leave a room after locking it or renaming it. Join the trigger channel again and the new room opens with the same name and lock state.
Prefer typing commands
The rename, limit, lock, hide, hand-over and remove buttons each have a matching command. Use them while you are inside the room's voice channel (help works anywhere). Everything except info and help is owner-only.
If a command does not work outside the room, see The console is locked or commands are missing. If the command name looks different, see The console is locked or commands are missing. If a new command does not show up, see The console is locked or commands are missing.

Where to go next
To decide who gets in or stays out, continue with Allow, block, knock and invite. If a room does not get created, see How many rooms can be open at once. If you are the admin who sets up trigger channels, see Create or change a trigger channel.
Check it worked
Renaming changes the channel name, and lock or hide turns the buttons into 🔓 Unlock and 👁️ Show. After a hand-over, the Owner line of the panel shows the new owner.
