Weekly challenges

Reach the weekly goal an admin sets and Kleos is added after the week ends: how to create one, where to see progress, and the settlement rules.

Before you start

Info · You need
  • Challenges are created by an admin: someone with the Manage Server permission, logged in to the web console. The bot never creates challenges on its own.
  • A member only needs to be logged in at kletoi.com with Discord as a member of the server. Reading the profile screen is covered in Your profile and match history.
  • The voice-time metric needs voice-time tracking on the server. It is on if the Weekly report channel box has a channel, or if Tier badges is turned on in the server settings.
  • The in-house metrics only move once matches have confirmed results. How to confirm a result is in Confirm a result and enter records.

What a weekly challenge is

It is a personal goal for the week, set by a server admin and counted for each member separately. When a member reaches the goal, Kleos is added after the week ends. Everything starts over every Monday at 00:00 UTC. If the admin has not created any, members see no challenges.

Info · The 5 metrics a challenge can use
  • In-house matches completed (games): the number of matches with a confirmed result that you took part in. A match where you were confirmed as a no-show does not count.
  • Voice time (minutes): the time you are in voice channels. You enter it in minutes and it shows in minutes. It adds up the recorded voice time as it is, so a muted mic still counts in full (see Voice mileage, tiers and badges for how mileage counts it).
  • Commendations received (count): the number of marks (commendations) other members gave you.
  • MVP votes received (count): how many times you were voted MVP.
  • Games completed with a new member (games): the number of completed matches that also had a member who joined the server within 14 days.
Info · Who does what
  • Admin: creates, edits, switches off and deletes challenges in the web console. That is the section “Admin: create a challenge” below.
  • Member: nothing to set up. You watch your progress on your profile and the server home, and when you reach the goal the Kleos comes in by itself after the week ends. That is the section “Member: see your progress” below.

Admin: create a challenge

Open Challenges in the web console's left menu

Web consoleChallenges

The screen is titled Weekly challenges. You create challenges in the New challenge box at the top and manage them in the Registered challenges box below. If you have never opened the web console, read A tour of the web console and logging in first.

Set the metric, target and Kleos points

Info · The fields in the New challenge box
  • Metric box: pick one of the 5 metrics above. You cannot change the metric after you create the challenge.
  • Target box: the number to reach in one week, at least 1. For the voice metric it is in minutes.
  • Kleos points box: the Kleos added for a member who reaches the target, from 1 to 1,000.
  • Name (optional) box: if you leave it empty, the metric's name is shown instead. Up to 60 characters.

A note under the fields gives the limits: a single challenge adds at most 1,000 Kleos, and one member can get at most 2,000 Kleos from challenges in a week. While there are no challenges yet, the list box shows three example chips and a Create one button. Pressing a chip pre-fills the form.

Attention · The voice metric needs voice-time tracking

If the Weekly report channel box has no channel and Tier badges is not turned on in the server settings, voice time is not recorded and nobody can reach a voice challenge. In that case a warning appears under the form: “The voice metric only accrues on servers with a report channel (mileage) configured.” The warning mentions only the report channel, but turning on tier badges fixes it too.

Press Add challenge

A “Challenge added.” message appears and a row is added to the Registered challenges box. At the top of the box you see how many challenges are on, written like “1 on”, and next to it a countdown such as “2d 5h left”. A server can have up to 20 challenges. Challenges that are switched off count, deleted ones do not. Past that you get “Too many challenges — tidy up unused ones and try again.” If the target or the points are out of range you get “Check your input — target or reward is out of range.”

C’est réussi si vous voyez ceci

If the Registered challenges box shows a row for the challenge you just made, with an achievement mark such as “No one yet” or “4 achieved this week” at its right, it is registered.

Edit it or switch it off

Press the pencil button at the right end of a row to unfold it. Change the Name (optional), Target and Kleos points boxes, or clear the Active checkbox to switch it off. When you are done, press Save. A switched-off row is marked Off, disappears from the members' screens and drops out of the weekly settlement.

Delete one you no longer need with Delete

It sits at the bottom of the unfolded row. Pressing it opens a “Delete this challenge?” confirm window. A deleted challenge disappears from the list and drops out of later settlements. Kleos that was already added is not taken back. Creating, editing and deleting are all kept in the Audit log screen as Challenge createdChallenge updatedChallenge deleted entries.

Attention · Good to know before you change one
  • If you switch a challenge off or delete it after the week ends but before the settlement runs, that settlement adds no Kleos for it. The settlement looks only at challenges that are on at that moment.
  • Challenges do not remember an old definition per week. If you lower a target or switch a challenge back on, someone who reached the new bar within the last 4 weeks and has not had Kleos added yet can get last week's Kleos late. A person who already had it added for that week does not get it again.
  • In the week you create a challenge, activity since that week's Monday is counted, including activity from before you created it. A challenge created after a week has ended adds no Kleos for that week.

Member: see your progress

Open your profile from Home

HomeMy profileThis week's challenges

On kletoi.com Home, press My profile on the server's card. If the server has a challenge turned on, your profile has a This week's challenges box. Its header shows how many you have finished, written like “1 / 3 done”, and the time left, like “2d 5h left”. If no challenge is on, the box is not there at all.

Read the progress bar on each row

Each row shows the challenge name (the metric's name if it has no name) and the Kleos you can get as “+number”, with a progress bar and a “current / target” number under it. A voice challenge is shown in minutes. When your value reaches the target, a Done! mark appears and a reserved mark is added beside the Kleos.

Info · 「reserved」 does not mean you have it yet

Kleos arrives only once the settlement runs after the week ends. Only what is left of the weekly cap (2,000 Kleos) is added, so it can be less than the number shown. When it arrives, a line is added to the history (the latest 20 entries) in the Kleos Activity Score box. How the score builds up and goes down is in Build up and review your Kleos activity score, and what happens at a season change is in Running a season and its wrap-up.

See how the whole server is doing on the server home

WebServer homeWeekly challenges

On kletoi.com Home, press Server home on the server's card. The Weekly challenges box shows, for each challenge, its target and counts like “4 achieved this week” and “9 taking part”. If anyone has reached it, up to three avatars are shown. A challenge you reached carries the Done! mark. Only challenges that are on are listed, and if none is on, the box is not there.

Info · “Taking part” is not the whole server

It counts people who had any activity on that metric that week, not every member of the server, so do not use it as the denominator for a completion rate.

Info · Who sees what
  • The challenges box on your profile is seen only by you, logged in.
  • The challenges box on the server home is seen by every member of the same server. Each challenge shows how many reached it and how many took part, with up to 3 avatars of people who reached it. The Hide my name from duo rankings switch applies only to duo rankings, so you cannot hide your avatar here.
  • When you run the /voice-meta forget-me command, challenge records are not deleted; they stay without your name and are no longer linked to you. What is deleted and what stays is in Delete your data or change privacy settings, and the full scope is in the Privacy Policy.

If your profile shows the This week's challenges box with a progress bar and a “current / target” number on each row, you have found your progress.

When the week turns over, and the settlement

Info · What happens when the week turns over
  • A week runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to the next Monday 00:00 UTC. It follows UTC, not your own timezone. When that moment passes, the progress bar starts again from zero.
  • Kleos is settled all together after the week ends. The settlement runs every 6 hours, so the Kleos can arrive a few hours after Monday begins. If the bot was down for a while, the settlement looks at the last 4 weeks again, so a missed week is filled in later.
  • A member who reached the target gets the challenge's Kleos points added. The same challenge adds Kleos for the same week only once.
  • One member can get at most 2,000 Kleos from challenges in a week. With several challenges, the older challenge is counted first. If the cap is almost used up, only the remainder is added, and once it is full that challenge adds nothing.
  • The settlement sends no DM or announcement. Check the Kleos that came in in the history of the Kleos box on your profile.

Why my progress did not count

Info · How each metric is counted
  • In-house matches completed (games): only matches whose result a server admin or the matchmaker who created the match confirmed, with a winner recorded, are counted, in the week of the confirmation. You must be counted as having joined, and a match where you were confirmed as a no-show is left out. Until the result is confirmed, the match is not counted yet.
  • Voice time (minutes): only time in a voice channel together with at least one other person is counted. Time alone, in an AFK channel, or with your headphones muted (deafened) is not. Time with only your microphone muted still counts in full: mileage counts that time at half, but a challenge adds the recorded time as it is (Voice mileage, tiers and badges). Time that is still going on is added in chunks every 15 minutes, in the week of that update. If voice-time tracking is off on the server, nothing is added at all.
  • Commendations received (count) · MVP votes received (count): counted in the week you received the mark or the MVP vote was cast. How they are given is in No-shows, marks and MVP.
  • Games completed with a new member (games): of the completed matches above, only those where another participant, not you and not a confirmed no-show, had joined the server within 14 days at the time the match was confirmed. A member whose join time was not recorded does not count as new.
  • Every metric is cut at Monday 00:00 UTC. Even if it is still Sunday night in your timezone, it may already be the next week in UTC.
Attention · When the Kleos did not arrive
  • The week may not have ended yet, or the settlement may not have run yet. As described above it can be a few hours late.
  • Your value must be at least the target. If it falls short, nothing is added. Even if the admin raised the Kleos points later, someone who already had them added for that week does not get them again.
  • If the Kleos added by that week's challenges already reached the 2,000 Kleos cap, the remaining challenges add nothing.
  • If the challenge was created after that week ended, or was switched off or deleted before the settlement, no Kleos is added for that week. Ask a server admin.

How to read the whole profile screen is in Your profile and match history, how to give marks and MVP votes is in No-shows, marks and MVP, and how to confirm a result is in Confirm a result and enter records. The voice time and mileage rules behind the voice metric are in Voice mileage, tiers and badges, how added Kleos builds up and goes down is in Build up and review your Kleos activity score, and what happens at a season change is in Running a season and its wrap-up. An admin setting a server up for the first time should start with A server admin's first 5 minutes.

Check it worked

C’est réussi si vous voyez ceci

If an admin has a challenge turned on in the Registered challenges box and a member sees the progress bar in the This week's challenges box on their profile, you are done. After the week ends, a member who reached the target gets a new line in the Kleos box history.
