AFK auto-move
Move members who keep their headphones off to the AFK channel: how to turn it on, the timings and the exceptions.

Before you start
- An account with Manage Server. Only people with it can use the on and off commands and the web console.
- An AFK (inactive) channel set on your server. Without one you cannot turn this on. The step “Choose the AFK channel” below sets it.
- The bot's Move Members and Connect permissions. Check them in The server permissions Kletoi needs.
What AFK auto-move does
Members who keep their headphones off for 30 minutes in a voice channel are moved to the server's AFK channel. At 20 minutes they get a DM first. Members who only muted their mic are not affected. The bot cannot tell whether someone is talking or moving, so it only looks at the headphones. How mileage counts headphone and mic states is in Voice mileage, tiers and badges.
It is off on a new server. It does nothing until you turn it on, as described below.

Pick it in the web console
Pick a voice channel under Server AFK channel and press Save and continue. If no AFK channel is set yet, Create and set creates a new voice channel and sets it in one go. If Guided setup is not in the left menu, use the Discord path.

Pick one voice channel from the list. If one is already set, you can leave it.
- Discord does not let anyone speak in the AFK channel. Pick a spare voice channel, not one where people talk.
- The web console list leaves out channels Kletoi uses (Trigger channels, temporary voice channels and Team voice).
- To set or create it from the web, both you and the bot need Manage Server. Creating with Create and set also needs Manage Channels for both you and the bot. If the bot lacks Manage Server, you see Missing bot permission — re-invite needed — see The server permissions Kletoi needs.
In the AFK auto-move window in Settings, the Inactive channel in use row shows a channel name when it is set. If it says Not set yet, set the channel first.

- If the server has no AFK channel: “This server has no AFK (inactive) channel, so there is nowhere to move people. Set one in Server Settings → Overview → Inactive Channel first.”
- If the bot lacks Move Members server-wide: “The bot is missing the following permissions in that channel/category: move_members Please grant them and try again.” This check only looks at server-wide permissions. If the AFK channel itself blocks the bot, you are told at the first move (see “When a permission is missing” below).
/admin show-config shows AFK auto-move as 🟢 On when it is on. People already sitting in a channel are timed from the moment you turn it on, so nobody is moved the instant you switch it on.
When does it move someone
The bot checks the voice channels every 60 seconds. At 20 minutes with headphones off it sends a warning DM, and at the first check after 30 minutes it moves the member.
- Putting the headphones back on restarts the count.
- Moving to another channel, even by choice, restarts the count there. Someone who walks back from the AFK channel into a normal channel is not sent straight back.
- Headphones turned off by the member and by a server admin are counted the same way.
- If the bot restarts, the count starts over.
- Discord has its own built-in AFK. It moves members who say nothing until the server's inactive timeout passes. The two run separately, so a short timeout means Discord moves them first.
- Set the timeout in Server Settings › Overview. The values you can choose are 1 · 5 · 15 · 30 · 60 minutes.
- Shorter than 20 minutes: Discord moves them first, so neither the Kletoi warning DM nor the move goes out.
- 20 to 30 minutes: the warning DM goes out, but Discord does the moving first.
- Longer than 30 minutes: Kletoi moves them first.
Who is not moved
- Members who only muted their mic (headphones on).
- Bot accounts.
- Accounts you added under Excluded accounts.
- Members already in the AFK channel.
- Members in a Team voice channel, so nobody is pulled out mid-match.
- Members in a trigger channel, since a room is created the moment they join.
What members see
A warning DM arrives at 20 minutes
A moved notice follows the move
If nobody is left in a temporary room once the people being moved have gone (even when several are moved at once), the room is empty and is cleaned up. That member gets a note saying joining the trigger channel creates a new room, instead of a link back.
- The AFK warning DM switch must be on. It is on by default. When it is off, neither the warning nor the moved notice is sent. Nothing is sent either while AFK auto-move itself is off.
- They are not sent to members who turned off Reminders & nudges DMs.
- Members who block DMs miss the notice. The move still happens.
- If the bot cannot move people to the AFK channel, it does not send the warning either, so nobody is warned about a move that cannot happen.
Kletoi does not bring a moved member back. Coming back is up to the member.
When a permission is missing
To move people, the bot role needs Connect and Move Members, and the AFK channel (or its category) must not block them. The full list is in The server permissions Kletoi needs.
When Discord refuses a move, the bot posts this in the Weekly report channel, or in the server's system messages channel if there is no such channel: “AFK auto-move failed — the bot cannot move members into AFK. Check that channel (or its category) grants the bot role both Connect and Move Members.” This notice goes out at most once every 10 minutes, and the bot tries again at the next check. Turn off the AFK auto-move switch and press Save. To stop only the warnings, turn off just the AFK warning DM switch: people are still moved, but no DMs go out. The other settings in this section are in Server settings at a glance.
En Discord

/admin disable-afk-moveOnly people with Manage Server can use itWhen it is off, the reply reads: “AFK auto-move is off. Nobody will be moved automatically.”
Turning this off only stops Kletoi's auto-move. The AFK channel in your Discord server settings stays as it is.
